Black Flag is putting out their first album since the late 80’s titled What the *&#$
The group started in 1976 and jumped on the wave of punk rock playing the prime of their shows in the 80’s.
Near the time of punk’s biggest peak they started recieving recognition amongst names like Circle Jerks, Bad Brains, Minor Threat and the Sex Pistols.
Henry Rollins is widely known name among music lovers and is vocals along with Kieth Morris who later migrates to vocals in Circle Jerks and creates five albums from the 80’s through 1995 afterward.
Their sound is heavy and raw and if you were to go to one of there shows the venue would be misted with cigarette smoke and littered of empty beer cans. Furthermore, standing in the crowd is like being lost in the tides at the beach which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective of enjoying punk rock shows.
Most other Black Flag CD’s grungy, short and most solo’s out tend to be out of key, other wise their songs have inspirational messages for the children.
After more than 10 years of not making any new CD’s one might imagine their sound may develop into something a little bit more developed.
Conversely, One can suggest that bands sometimes change with time and their fans become unappeased, so in this case you’re good to go.
To prove how esteemed this band is here is a verse from rap group House of Pain who also was primarily famous from ( 1990 – 1993 )
“Cause I feel it ‘in the air tonight’
But, yo i’m not like Phil Rollins
I’m more like Henry Rollins
Cause I search and destroy”
Black Flag has always been known for what they represented in the name of punk of dismissing the government. Throughout the years they still have been what they have done best.
