And just like that, years of work all culminated in the span of a few hours.
Cerritos College bid farewell to all those who were leaving behind the community college and were going their respective ways at the graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 17 at Falcon Stadium.
Family and friends gathered around, as is the norm for such an occasion.
Candy Garcia is just glad it’s over. She is not necessarily saddened about the fact that her friends will be leaving. In fact, it’s the exact opposite.
She said, “They’re on their own journey … so I’m happy for them.”
Many will go their own ways as Garcia noted. Ace Caguioa is noting the fact that this establishment, Cerritos College, is what made him who he is; and he credits being a Falcon is what gave him the necessary tools to become a Bruin, as he leaves for UCLA.
“It’s great to have that feeling of accomplishment and to know that you’re ready to transfer.”
Featured Speaker was Manuel Baca, the president of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors.
In addition, a musical performance was produced by Cerritos College.
