An informal court meeting regarding the upcoming elections was held Tuesday, Sept. 9, in room BK-111, which was open to the public.
The meeting introduced new and old associate justices to their role in the impending elections and what they should expect their role to be.
Schedules and availability was discussed among the associate justices, assigning them to certain dates and times where they would apply their help in the elections.
Supervised by the Student Activities Coordinator Amna Jara, the meeting went smoothly by briefly reviewing the role of student government in the senate elections.
The tedious duties of counting ballots for the elections was presented to the justices, as well as code of conduct while representing the Associated Students of Cerritos College.
The next elections are for the Homecoming Court, which are going to be held Oct. 1 and 2. Homecoming queen elections, however, are going to be held the Oct. 15 and 16.
Jara stated, “Court runs the show during the elections so it needs to be prepared. I expect (the members) to be professional and take initiative so they can learn and be able to handle the Homecoming elections in October.”
The associate justices are expected to be able to properly run the future elections later in the school year; the upcoming elections are a learning experience for the new members within the ASCC.
The associate justices refused to comment about anything regarding the senate elections.
The first official meeting discussing the same topics will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. in room BK-111, which is open to the public.
