Original story is as follows:
Despite suffering some injuries, the men’s cross country team still feels strong to make it in the top of the race on Friday, Oct. 10, at Irvine Regional Park.
The men’s team hopes that its long hours of practice will pay off in this race.
Star performer Anthony Lozano stated, “I’m feeling confident. There is going to be decent teams there, solid front runners, but I am expecting to run with them. I am going for the top five or top ten.”
There may be some runners that are injured, but that does not stop the men from setting high expectations.
Coach Brian Ramos said, “For the men, we are a little bit banged up; two of our top runners are injured and are considered day-to-day and [I] will decide if I will run one of the injured runners. Even though we have injuries, we are still expecting other guys to step up and this will be their chance to be scoring runners.”
George Robinson also has set his expectations for the team and himself.
“My expectations are to place in the top thirty because we need more points as a team to get better, and as a team, we need to run better as a pack. The more we run together, the more points we will get and I would like to be in the top three,” he said.
For big races like this, every runner needs to have a way to prepare themselves.
“On the men’s side, we have two top runners and we have been working on them and going out and going with the lead pack and really looking at Anthony and Frank to be top ten in state. That has been our goal for this season,” Ramos said. “Those two guys [will be] working on the lead pack and the rest of the men are working in groups.”
