The men’s tennis team played on Feb. 3 against Cypress College and won the match 9-0.
For the doubles match, the Falcons looked to take advantage early on in the match against Cypress.
Playing as doubles, no.1 Agustin Lombardi and Mark Antoniuk beat their opponent easily without dropping a set 8-0.
For the doubles, no.2 Amadi Kagoma and Henry Ayesiga did the same as fellow teammates Agustin and Mark beat their opponent 8-0.
For the doubles, no.3 Milos Zoric and Mathieu David didn’t sweep their opponent but easily won their game 8-1.
- Singles game no.1 Amadi Kagoma won his match 6-2
- Singles match no.2 Milos Zoric as he replaced Antonio Torrebella-Clark he did not play because of rest. Zoric playing as the singles no. 2 won his match 6-2,6-1.
- Singles match no.3 for the game was Agustin Lombardi won 6-0, 6-0.
- Singles match no.4 Mathieu David beat his opponent by 6-0, 6-0 in his match.
- Singles match no.5 was Mark Antoiuk who only gave up one point in the second set as he beat his opponent 6-1,6-0.
- Singles match no. 6 in singles Henry Ayesiga won 6-0,6-1.
Coach Kim said, “Cypress wasn’t the same team as the past and you hope for cross town rivals to be better but they are rebuilding and have a new coach.”
He added for the next game against Irvine Valley, “Its huge they are the current no.1 ranked team in the South and if we have any hopes of winning a state title we have to beat this team and we will see what happens.”
Last season the Falcons lost at home to Irvine Valley with Cerritos falling short 4-5. This season the Falcons are seeking redemption looking to stay undefeated in the season.
Milos Zoric said, “Coach gave me an opportunity to be #2 (in singles) was really motivated and a big win for me.”
He added, “We can stop thinking about Irvine because its our biggest game so far and in the season…and i hope we beat them”
The men’s tennis team will be playing at Irvine Valley on Feb. 5 looking to continue the winning streak.
Kagoma said about Thursday’s game, “It’s going to be a tough one they know what to expect and we know what to expect everyone is ready for the big match on Thursday.”
