The men’s tennis team extended their winning streak to two on Feb. 10 as they defeated Riverside Community College 6-3.

The Falcons have a seven day break period with no games just practice for the next days to come.

The Falcon’s next game is at home against Los Angeles Pierce College on Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.

The Falcons started off the match with doubles first. Being the home team Cerritos decided to play doubles first traditionally.

• No. 1 doubles Amadi Kagoma/Antonio Torrebella-Clark defeated the Tigers 8-2.
• No. 2 doubles Mark Antoniuk/Agustin Lombardi lost their match in a tiebreaker losing 8-9 (3).
• No. 3 doubles Mathieu David/Milos Zoric defeated their opponents 9-8(3) in a tiebreaker that gave the Falcons a 2-1 advantage now looking to maintain the lead heading into singles matches.

The singles results:

• No. 1 singles Amadi Kagoma (Cerritos) defeated C. Stephenson (Riverside) with the score of 6-2, 6-2.
• No. 2 singles Antonio Torrebella-Clark (Cerritos) fell short losing to M. Willockx (Riverside) 4-6, 6-7.
• No. 3 singles Mark Antoniuk (Cerritos) lost a three set match to A. Voisin (Riverside) 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.
• No. 4 singles Agustin Lombardi (Cerritos) defeated P. Stetco (Riverside) with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
• No. 5 singles Henry Ayesiga (Cerritos) didn’t give up a game point as he defeated C. Canazales (Riverside) 6-0, 6-0.
• No. 6 singles Mathieu David (Cerritos) was pushed to play three sets in a tiebreaker defeated G. Harrell (Riverside) 6-1, 6-7, 10-7. David started to cramped up in the start of the second set and maintained to win.

Head coach Alvin Kim said, “Riverside is a tough opponent and I felt we played okay with the heat.”

He added, “We have such great potential this year and we are off to a good start.”

Kim said that there was much to be done during the week long break.

Henry Ayesiga, a kinesiology major said, “My match went well i managed to win six love, six love. Which is a good score to me it means to me that I am improving”

Ayesiga added for next weeks game against Los Angeles Pierce, “It doesn’t matter who we meet we are ready to face them and get the job done.”

Mathieu David, a journalism major, said “My first set was easy but my second set I started to cramp up and I couldn’t play my best but I won in the third set in a tiebreaker and it shows that I could win if I play good.”

David added, “We want to win every match so we are going to practice this weekend to improve again and not make mistakes.”

The Falcons look to keep their winning streak going as they face Los Angeles Pierce College next week on Feb.17.
