The Women’s got their winning streak snapped by Mt San Antonio on Feb. 24 after losing 7-2. The Falcons are now 6-3 in season and 1-1 in conference games.
Cerritos will play their next game at home against El Camino College on Feb. 26. This is an important game being that it is the Falcons third game in conference play and could define the women’s season.
Playing singles first, the Falcons looked to take the lead, but lost in singles.
No.1 singles Connie Aranguiz (Mt.SAC) defeated Taylor Heath (Cerritos) 6-3, 6-3.
No.2 singles Pyper Brown (Mt.SAC) defeated Anastasia Khomyachenko (Cerritos) 6-1, 6-1.
No.3 singles Mariia Yatsenko (Cerritos) defeated Kristen Canones (Mt.SAC) 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

No.6 singles Merli Alcasid (Cerritos) defeated Ysabella Matute (Mt.SAC) 6-2, 6-2.
Being down 4-2 in the match as a team the Falcons needed to win all three double matches in order to win.
No.1 doubles Pyper Brown/Judy Ung (Mt.SAC) defeated Taylor Heath/Mariia Yatsenko (Cerritos) 9-7.
No.2 doubles Connie Aranguiz/Kristen Canones (Mt.SAC) defeated Stef Flores/Anastasia Khomyachenko (Cerritos) 8-6.
No.3 doubles Tran Bui/Ysabella Matute (Mt.SAC) defeated Merli Alcasid/Katia Brambila (Cerritos) 8-3.
Head Coach Alvin Kim said, “We lost to a better team, possibly the best team we’ve played so far. They [need to] give more effort. We explained to them it’s just not enough. They need to decide whether or not this is enough for them or they want more.”
Kim added, “We are evenly matched. It’s an absolute must win. If you want to be one of the top teams you have to beat everyone and we only lost three times so there’s a lot of work to do.”
Merlii Alcasid said, “Singles was a good match. I played well [and] hit [the ball] where I wanted to hit [it]. For doubles it was a bit frustrating.”
Alcasid added, “I’m going to work harder and practice as much as I can for the game against El Camino.”
