The wins keep piling on for the Falcon men’s swim and dive team, as they defeated host El Camino College, 146-129 in a South Coast Conference meet on Friday, March 20.
The Falcons won five events and also earned extra points by placing second in four of them.
The opening event was the 200-yard medley relay, with the quartet of Jason Ly, Marlon Moreno, Joshua Owens and Angel Rojas.
They took first place with the time of 1:43.03. The same squad took the 400-yard freestyle relay and won first place with the time of 3:23.21.
Owens took the win for the 100-yard butterfly, with teammate Daryl Davsilva coming in second and trailing behind was Matthew Skinas.
Moreno won two events, the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke with Daniel Loeza coming in second place.
“I feel really good. I dropped my time by five seconds. I gotta do what I gotta do. The team seems to be swimming really fast and we’re all doing good and having a good day,” said Moreno.
Isiah Gayton won the 200-yard butterfly while Miguel Guerrero picked up a second-place finish.
Earning a first place finish for the Falcons was Ly, in the 200-yard backstroke and picking up second in the 100-yard backstroke.
Rojas took second in the 100-yard freestyle and Owens also placing second in the 200-yard freestyle while Loeza was a close second place in the 200-yard breaststroke. “I did pretty good. I finished fast and I did very good. Everyone is doing their job. Coach is so happy with the results because I dropped a couple of seconds the last minute and I feel good,” said Rojas.
The next swim meet is at home against Chaffey College and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College in a conference meet at 12:30 p.m on Friday, March 27.
