A two car collision occurred on the intersection of Gridley and Alondra adjacent to the parking lot in front of the tennis courts Monday, March 30 at approximately 3 p.m.
The two cars involved was a grey Mitsubishi Gallant and a black Chevy Traverse.
One of the victims in the car accident was pried from the car by fire fighters while they put a neck brace on the victim.
The man being pulled out of the Mitsubishi Gallant looked in his early 20s and then carried onto an ambulance by paramedics.
The black Chevy Traverse was driven by a 24-year-old woman and two children, according to the driver’s brother, Gustavo Robles.
According to police the Mitsubishi was driving at 40 miles per hour and collided with the black car on the yellow light.
Sheriff Robles said, “Party two [black car] pulled into turn to make the left, light went red and made her turn.
“Party one was coming through, saw he had a yellow and continued through the intersection at 40 miles per hour.”
Uziel Torres, 43, saw the accident from start to finish.
He said, “The woman [black car] was going on Alondra trying to make a turn into Gridley, the light was yellow, and she was already in the middle of the street ready to turn left,
“The man [grey car] sped to try and catch the yellow light, traffic was already stopping, he hit her in the front and they both sped out into the streets.”
According to firefighter officials, the squad that responded to the accident was on their way back from an earlier call.
They saw the crash in the street and immediately pulled over to help.
“I’d say the call came three minutes after the accident,” a firefighter official said.
Torres said, “I’ve been living on this street for 10 years, this isn’t the first time this happens. There should be a speed bump or something to help prevent things like this.”
