The Women’s cross country team placed second in the Fresno Invitational. The team traveled to Fresno, California to race on Sept. 11.
The invitational had a total of 16 colleges that participated and a total of 144 runners.
Cerritos College earned a total of 70 team points. However, it saw Glendale College place first by earning 60 team points. Cerritos College had a total time of 1:38:17 with the seven runners in the meet. The team average 19:39 per runner in the 5K run.
This was a glimpse for the CCCAA State Championships because the team will race on the same course in Nov. 21.
“Our team time and average time improved by two minutes from the women and there are areas that we can improve on and we only lost by 10 points and that’s not much in terms of scoring,” Head coach Bryan Ramos stated.
Sophomore captain Marylu Pulido finished the 5K run in 19:07 and finished in fourth place.
While sophomore teammates Elsa Villin Vasquez and Maria Orosco finished the race in 12th and 13th place.
“I thought it was a good race our girls came in second place and we need to work on the second pack together,” Pulido said.
