Student Service Vice President Dr. Stephen Johnson issued a mass email to the students and staff of Cerritos College with ways to view the following information: annual Securities Report, emergency information, emergency procedures and information about Falcon Safe and Project Safe.
For those who are not aware of the Falcon Safe Program and Project Safe Program, these two programs help bring awareness to campus safety.
Police Chief Tom Gallivan of the Cerritos College Police Department said, “These two programs help bring awareness to safety on campus. They are in place to help educate the students on the issues of stalking, domestic violence and sexual assault.”
The email offered links to information about evacuation procedures, policy, insight on the test alert notification and safe zones references.
In the event of an actual emergency remain calm, it is advised to follow these procedures and be on the lookout for information of the situation.
The Cerritos College Public Affairs office is also part of the procedures that go on in the event of an emergency.
“We go for accuracy, rather than speed,” Media Relations Coordinator Aya Abelon said.
Their goal is to give a sense of security and knowledge of the situation without creating a panic.
In conjunction with the information in the email, the school’s annual securities report was released.
The report states that, “The Campus Police Department prepares this announcement to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act.”
Also, the report gives details and statistics of the criminal activity that is occurring in and around campus.
It offers ways of prevention, awareness and outreach programs which include: ways of disclosing, reporting any criminal activity and bystander outreach.
This report offers information about emergency and evacuation procedures, filing an incident report and missing persons report.
