GQ’s latest magazine cover has proven that a woman’s accomplishment can never be celebrated for what it is: her accomplishment.

There must be always some allusion towards a man whenever a woman is being celebrated and that must be put to an end.

GQ’s magazine cover featured the ever-badass tennis player Serena Williams as part of GQ’S notorious Man of the Year issue.

The magazine attempts to make a push forward by giving the title traditionally reserved for men, to women.

Yet, GQ screwed the pooch big time by including quotation marks around the word woman in the issue featuring Williams.

Now, unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Williams has been compared to a man, since most men feel threatened by strong women, but this bullshit must be put to an end.

Women do not have to fit society’s standards, which dictates that they must be soft and unintimidating. And if women are anything other, then they are bitches or the derogatory term for lesbians.

Women are not allowed to be fierce, strong or powerful, because forbid if a man feels threatened.

It’s now time to reclaim that power and fierceness that all women naturally possess, but have felt that they had to hide it because society shuns against women possessing and demonstrating these characteristics.

As demonstrated in the movie “The Post,” women must combat the naysayers and demonstrate that we do have the resolve to make tough decisions.

We, both men and women, must dispel the myths that surround women in charge.

Repeat after me, women do not act rashly just because they are on their periods, as in turn their period does not affect their judgement.

Women can handle high-stress situations, what do you think going into labor is categorized as?

While on the topic of babies, just because some women have ovaries does not mean that they are automatically obligated to settled down and just have babies for the rest of her life.

Women do not have to be stereotypically feminine, we don’t have to wear lipgloss, heels and dresses all the time or at all.

Competitive sports or career fields are not just exclusively for men, women can be athletic and strong.

Now that we have clarified matters, I want everyone to keep that in mind when women are succeeding or young girls have high aspirations for themselves. We must boost their confidence, not deter it.

Progress was made in the recent midterm elections, when almost 100 women were elected into offices of political leadership.

We must keep that momentum going and continue to raise women up, not only our present generation, but future generation as well.

Women are much, much more than the stereotype that society has placed upon on us.

We are much more than sandwich-serving, baby-making, period-having machines. We are human.
