The Cerritos Men’s Tennis team obtained their 10th victory of the season against Mount San Antonio College by 9-0 on Tuesday, Mar. 12.
The Falcons needed just a little over an hour, to beat Mounties and surrendered just two points.
Facing an undermanned Mounties team, Cerritos recorded forfeit wins in two singles and one doubles match. The two doubles matches that were contested saw the Falcons record 8-0 wins, while two of the four singles matches netted 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Swapping places on the singles ladder, sophomore Bruno Duarte posted a 6-1, 6-0 win in the #1 position, with freshman Arthur Toledo recording an identical score in the #2 spot. The other singles matches were shutout wins by sophomores Tomas Bella and Nico de la Pena. The two pairs also comprised the doubles pairings.

Sophomore Tomas Bella when asked on the team’s performance said, “Today’s game was easy because it was a team with less players and there are matches that we win by forfeit, and they [Mount San Antonio College] are not at our level.”
When questioned on the future of the team Bella stated, “We are looking forward to win the conference and the state championship.”
Sophomore Jan Simon when asked on the team’s previous match against the Mounties said, “We knew that Mount SAC had less players because we beat them two weeks ago. We knew that they are not a strong team.”
When questioned on the next games Simon stated, “I think we are looking to win the state championship. I know that there are other teams that want to win besides us.”
Freshman Lucas Legrand when asked on the match said that they were going to win. When questioned on what the team needs to win Legrand stated, “We need to focus, play every game, have confidence and have fun. We want to win state and conference championships.”
The Falcons previous five games: Cerritos 9-0 Mount San Antonio College, Cerritos 9-0 Victor Valley College, Cerritos 9-0 El Camino College, Cerritos 5-4 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (New York), Cerritos 9-0 Glendale.
Cerritos will host Victor Valley College in a conference match on Thursday at 2 p.m. Then they travel to Saddleback College on Friday at 2 p.m., in a match that was rescheduled from Valentine’s Day. Next Tuesday, the Falcons host El Camino College at 2 p.m. Finally, next Thursday they visit Citrus College to play against Mount San Antonio College at 2 p.m.
