The start of the MLB postseason is now upon us and the matchups are as exciting as ever.
The first matchups to kick off the postseason is the one game elimination wildcard games which has one of the greatest rivalries in the league’s history facing off in the American League game between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
The National League will be featuring the St. Louis Cardinals facing the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
As fans around the sport know, the AL East division came down to the wire in the recent month and Tampa Bay ended up taking the division pennant and in turn, the winner between Boston and New York will face off to play them in the next round.
The Yankees should beat Boston and head into Tampa Bay in what should be an even greater test for the Yankees.
In the NL wildcard, the St. Louis cardinals head to LA to face the Dodgers in what should be another classic meeting between the two clubs.
St. Louis has always given the Dodgers a run for their money in their meetings between them in October but, the Dodgers are seen as the favorites heading into the playoffs and should not be looked at any other way. The Dodgers should win and advance to play their lifelong rivals and NL West division champions the San Francisco Giants.
The divisional round of competition would then feature 4 teams from each league in the traditional 5 game series format and have the Chicago White Sox facing the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves taking on the Milwaukee Brewers along with the potential matchups between the Dodgers and the Giants plus the Rays and Yankees.
The White Sox and Astros won their respected divisions comfortably so this one will be a battle but should see Houston win the series in game 5 to face the potential winner of the Yankees and Rays series which should see the Rays win in 4 for a Tampa Bay vs Astros ALCS rematch from the previous season.
With the big news of starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw being out for their postseason along with first-baseman Max Muncy to miss the majority of it, the Dodgers will stick the course and topple the rival Giants in 5 games to face the winner of the Brewers who will win in 4 games against the Braves.
The league championship series winners to emerge victorious from their games will also be a rematch of the 2017 World Series between the Dodgers and the Houston Astros.
The Dodgers repeat as champions of baseball once again.
