Transferring to a 4-year university is easier than students make it sound and should stop complaining about it being difficult because in reality it’s quite simple.
Not only does Cerritos College has various resources such as the transfer center and counselors, but it also has TAG partnerships with several universities such as Cal State Dominguez Hills.
TAG stands for Transfer Admission Guarantee. TAG is a partnership that Cerritos College has with certain universities which simplifies the transferring process for students and helps them step by step along the way so there is no reason why it should be hard.
It usually requires submission of required paperwork that is available from information tables during various times of the semester along the library sidewalk, or from the transfer center year round, to both Cerritos College and the university of choice given that the university has a partnership with our campus.
You may then apply online via the university website and find out what class, credit, or unit requirements must be met before the beginning if the term for which you are applying.
In order to transfer, you must have completed or be in progress of completing your golden four which are the key classes required to transfer with a grade C or better before you actually transfer over.
The golden four are certain courses which are a mandatory requirement for each student. These are as follows: Oral Communication (Speech), Written Communication (English), Critical Thinking (Varies), and Math.
If transferring is still giving you trouble, don’t be afraid to ask for help from the Cerritos College Transfer Center or an academic counselor.
Next time you find yourself overwhelmed with how hard transferring is, stop, think and remember all the resources are your fingertips and all it takes is one step at a time.
