Religion does affect politics, and we see this phenomenon as voters incline to the party who shares similar religious beliefs.

Good integrity and caring for your neighbor not just your self are traits ‘Religious’ people should take into consideration. Learning what is good versus bad ,not who is religious enough to be president.

Clearly not stereotyping anyone, there are good-hearted religious people out there, who are deserving of all respect.

When it comes to voting, people should make sure what ideals would like to see supported, instead of considering someone’s religion to trust them.

Right now as the top-two biggest opponents President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney are two controversial topics. Obama claims to have been raised in a non-religious house hold, yet very influenced by his mother’s spiritual ways. However when Obama met Michelle he realized he would like to be part of a religion and he chose to be Protestant Christian, still he doesn’t attend church every Sunday.

Romney in the other hand belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), religion which still is a big mystery to a lot of people, due to its secrecy during its gatherings or rituals as some say.

To take religion into consideration when it comes to voting, is like voting based upon someone’s skin color, it won’t tell you much.

But what you can do is look at the candidates’ policies, and see what propositions they are in favor of; would any of these propositions will affect you as a student? Reality is they are.

If you vote not knowing what you are voting for, you are endangering your education, this is not a joke.

If you decide to not vote because you don’t know what candidate is supporting what, you are missing out a chance on changing things, yes a vote might not be the ultimate game changer but think about it, if everybody thinks the same way, the chance to gather the votes that will benefit students is less.

Don’t let religion influence your vote, neither look at the top of the ladder.

Start by taking the first step, vote! Once you’ve done that, you will be closer to contributing to the things you would like to see change.

Don’t look at the final step, look at what it’s in your hands to help, once you’ve done that you’ve contributed toward what you would like to see happen.
