This is pretty good. I really like this. He’s one of my best friends. Now going right into we’re gonna talk about the Kings today.
So last night, Todd McLellan has coached his 1000th career NHL game. That’s quite a day for a coach.
Now, there have been multiple coaches, but I’ve never seen a coach play a thousand games just for me. I’m too young.
So he was not only a coach, but he was also a player. He had played for a few seasons, actually. He was drafted 104th overall in 1986 by the New York Islanders.
He played from 1987 to 1989. So he didn’t play for too long, but his coaching career started in 1993 to now.
Now, his first NHL team that he coached for was the San Jose Sharks on June 11th, 2008.
He had to replace Ron Wilson and he would eventually help the as he built the sharks into a very, very good team, they didn’t win any Stanley Cups but they were a very good, consistent team.
They would go to the Stanley Cup final in 2016 and they would lose to the Pittsburgh Penguins. But they played pretty good, actually.
They’re doing pretty good. I was not cheering for the Sharks. Of course, I’m a Kings fan and I would not cheer for the Sharks ever (unless it helps the Kings in some way. But, you know.)
So then he would coach the Edmonton Oilers. He didn’t do too well with Edmonton. He had just helped them play in one playoff series and they lost to the Anaheim Ducks in 2017.
And now he is coaching our Los Angeles Kings man, Todd, he has now he’s rebuilding the Kings really good. He’s done a really good job rebuilding this team too.

(And last night’s game) Let’s go right to the game now too. The Kings, that was quite a humiliating game. Played against the Kraken.
I couldn’t see the Kraken beating the Kings. But the Kings shouldn’t have lost that badly if they’re going to lose, especially against a team that they have beaten twice before as well.
(The Kings) Well, they didn’t play too badly despite the goals. They were pretty consistent. Their passes were a lot better.
They didn’t have too many turnovers. Well, they did have turnovers.

But, yeah, they didn’t have too many turnovers, but the Seattle Kraken goalie, Chris Drugan Driedger, excuse me, he is a monster.
He played extremely well. I thought the Kings, they had plenty of chances to score and he shut them down.
And the Kraken goals would come from Ryan Donato, Jordan Eberle twice right there, Victor Rask and Jared McCann.
Yep, and the only goal that would come from the Kings was Arthur Kaliyev. Now, the game what I saw, what I’ve seen from the Kings didn’t like, I say they didn’t play too bad.
They definitely a lot faster, the especially the young guys. Now, this is what I have talked about to the young guys.
It’s good that the young guys are contributing and not just the old core group, because Kopitar, of course Kopitar, he’s my all time favorite player, but the can not just come from him or the veterans, you know, and that’s what I’ve been really liking.
So far, I think my fair rookie or new guy is Arthur Kaliyev. He is playing phenomenal. I love what he’s doing.
His playmaking is awesome. His goal scoring is amazing. Everything about him is awesome.
Cal Peterson, I feel horrible, of course, whenever the Kings have a blowout, the player I feel the most bad for is the goalie, obviously, because there’s such great players and I’m sure they probably feel like some time that they let their team down when really it’s just the defense and offense.
(And) This is what the Kings did really bad last night. Their defense couldn’t hold up the Kraken’s offense and not only that either, (the Kraken’s) they had multiple outnumbered attacks and that’s what really got to the Kings.
(They had multiple outnumbered attacks to where the Kings just couldn’t defend anymore.)
And but, you know, a loss is a loss and the Kings are still second place in the division, but now they have to play the Edmonton Oilers to keep that spot because the Oilers are just two points behind the Kings, they’re just two points.
Kings got 81 and Oilers got 79, and that’s going be the next game too and they’re going to be playing the Oilers next in Edmonton after that they’re going to play the Calgary Flames.
The number one team in the Pacific is against our old coach, Darryl Sutter. It’s crazy, too. In Calgary, there are multiple Kings on that team.
They got Darryl Sutter, Milan Lucic, Trevor Lewis and they just picked up Tyler Toffoli. Now, I know there’s this podcast isn’t about the Flames but the Flames did a pretty good job picking up Toffoli because he is a natural goal scorer.
He was pretty good for the Kings just sucks we had to get rid of him, you know, hey, we got to do what we’ve got to do.
And the Kings seems like that was the right move. This is some of the best hockey I’ve seen the Kings play in so many years now, I just started watching Kings and hockey in general, hockey in general in 2015, the 2015-16 season, and.
Yeah, it was all downhill from there. I have not seen Kings play any better after the or before or after the 2017-18 season, and they played extraordinarily well until just they just took a downfall in, became the eighth seed and just got swept like that.
But the Kings, they have to win this next game to keep the spot.
Now I know the Kings don’t have to, they don’t have to be number one, they don’t have to be number 2 you know, you would want to keep that spot for the Kings at least, it’s a lot because the Kings, they’re a very inconsistent team. They make they’re a team that make the playoffs every other year.
(and) They didn’t they have didn’t have too much a show, and this is what’s really get to what I’ve heard from Luc Robitile. For the past 40 plus years, the Kings had traded away all their draft picks to try and make a run for the cup.
And obviously, we never won a Stanley Cup. So the Kings’ drafting has been really good and they’ve been developing these players extraordinarily well and look at them now.
They’re playing some of the best hockey that we have seen in years. Their second place, they are second place.
So let’s hope the four Kings can keep this going, because, boy, I would I would love to see them.
Another run in the playoffs and hopefully they do, because L.A. and we are on a roll, I know I’m not a Rams man, I’m a Raider fan, but it was pretty nice to see another championship or a football championship in Los Angeles.
Let’s hope the Kings can be the fourth team, can be that fourth team during a pandemic to get a championship.
And if they do win it. Anze Kopitar will be probably the first Slovenian-born captain to win the Stanley Cup.
I’m sure it wouldn’t mean to win because a lot of players, especially Kopitar he’s a super humble guy.
I’m sure that’s probably in the back of his mind, actually. I’m sure that would be in the back of his mind.
But for most of, for a lot of us, it would be very great for the country of Slovenia. It would be amazing. The greatest hockey player in their country’s history will be Hoisting the Stanley Cup as a captain.
