The City of Norwalk held its last summer concert of the season on the Civic Center Lawn on Aug. 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Adelaide Pilar and the Latin Divas tribute band put on a show for all those in attendance at the live concert.

Many people were gathered around the stage in lawn chairs and beach towels listening and singing along to the various Latin American songs the band was performing.

A small congregation of people formed in front of the stage and began to move their hips and dance to the rhythm of the songs.

Norwalk had held these live concerts throughout the summer which began on July 12 and starred Jenni Rivera, the event came to an end on Aug. 16.

The event was a huge hit amongst families, around two thousand esteemed people showed up for the live concert.

Sam Figueroa, a security guard at the event, explained that he thinks this was the biggest turnout this summer for a live concert.

Some families saw the event as a way to kiss the summer goodbye and welcome in the coming fall season, like Jesse Ceballos and his family which clarified what this event meant to them.

“Yeah, these events are just awesome to bring the family out and just relax for a little bit,” Ceballos said, “it’s a great way to end the summer for me and my family as fall gets closer.”

People were also free to buy food and refreshments from the multitude of food trucks that were available like Mexican food, The Tropic Truck, or Chick-fil-A.

Many who attended were also able to purchase dessert from the vast array of dessert options that were available to them as well.

A few dessert options for people were kettle corn, shaved ice, and or churros filled with different types of filling.

Unfortunately, not everyone was happy that this will be the last live concert of the summer that Norwalk was going to organize.

Evelyn Johnson, a mother of three expressed “It just stinks that my kids and I are going to have to wait till next summer for us to come back to these live concerts again because we really enjoy them.”

The City of Norwalk also put together rows of information booths from different vendors, organizations, and companies for people to have the opportunity to inform themselves more on different topics.

Norwalk recycling, social services, the Office of Emergency Management, and even Cerritos College were just a few that went and established an information booth.

The next event for families that Norwalk will be organizing is an International Family Park Night on the Civic Center Lawn on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
