Stringing together only five singles in Saturday’s game against El Camino, the Cerritos College Men’s Baseball team fell to the Warriors by a score of 4-0.
Most of the hits for Cerritos College came in the first three innings.
With all of its hits in the game being singles, the Falcons got three of its five hits in the first three innings of the game.
During the fifth inning, Cerritos College came close to scoring when second baseman Chris Hefner and catcher Sergio Barboza of the Falcons hit back-to-back singles.
With both runners advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Falcon infleider Cesar Castillo, Cerritos College looked poised to score, but outfielder Bubby Rossman struck out ending the inning and the Falcon’s chances of scoring.
Christian Price talked about his team’s loss saying,“I don’t think we came out as fired up, and we didn’t put the ball in play as much as the game before; we took too many swings on bad pitches in the dirt.”
He also spoke on what he looks forward to for the rest of season “I think if we sweep this series against Pasadena and play good in the Hancock tournament next week, we would have good momentum going into the last three series and maybe we can get ourselves a playoff spot.”
Gael Esparaza also spoke about how his team will improve in the next games “Make fewer errors than our opponent, and play harder than them. Also just play like we want it more.”
The loss against the Warriors drops Cerritos College to 5-16 overall and 2-7 in conference.
The team now as a three game set against Pasadena City College that started on Tuesday.
