Gas prices seem to keep going up like the mercury of a thermometer on a hot summer day and Cerritos College student’s money is burning up.
Gas in California is averaging a little more than $4.30 a gallon, whereas the national average is 50 cents cheaper.
With gas prices so high, students should look for more practical solutions to get to and from school until the gas prices go down.
The bus is always a great alternative to driving. It may take a little longer, but the ride is much cheaper than driving a car.
Bus lines always offer students discounts and some buses such as the College Bound bus service offer free rides to and from school to all Cerritos College and Long Beach City College students.
Not only is taking the bus an option but students can get together with friends and carpool together. Carpooling not only saves students money but it also gives others some time to relax and not have to worry about traffic every once in a while.
Another way students can save money on gas is by taking economical routes and not trying to go 100 miles per hour down the 605 thinking they’re Speed racer, especially if they drive cars or trucks with V-8 engines.
The best advice someone can take is downgrading from a cool Mustang 5.0 to a more economical and less cool Honda Civic.
At the end of the day the guy with the Mustang will have a sweet car but no cash to take the girl he just picked up to a nice dinner.
