The Women’s studies department will be hosting an essay contest during March. The essay will be focused on one women living in poverty.
Diane Keenan, professor of economics and chair of economics and Women’s Studies Departments, talked about what is looked for in a essay, “They are looking for a story of a women from poverty that has made a significant difference in the world.”
Keenan explained why should students enter the contest.
“This is a good experience for students who want some writing experience,” she said.
The monetary prizes will be $200 for 1st place, $150 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place.
The deadline for the essay will be on Mar. 16 at 5 p.m.
