Cerritos College students are not ready for any type of earthquake anytime soon.
After how people acted last semester during the state-wide earthquake drill, no one is ready for a real one.
People take the earthquake drills as though they are some kind of joke and use it as an excuse to get out of class or go home early.
Students joke around and think that it is all fun and games, but when an earthquake hits they will be the ones who end up being injured or causing someone else to become injured.
Students are not the only ones to blame for all of the goofing around, teachers should try and maintain order and show their students to act civilized even if it is a just a drill.
The only people who do take the drills seriously are the little kids from the daycare and they can’t even spell earthquake.
Maybe for students to take these drills seriously, they need to be given nap time and juice boxes, maybe then if they don’t behave they can be given a time out or have their parents called in for a parent teacher conference.
The only thing that the school asks of the students is to be aware and take these drills seriously because this is Southern California.
“The Big One” can hit at any time so when it does hit, people will be prepared for it and have a higher chance for survival.
There is nothing hard about listening to a professors instructions just follow them and do what you are told, and everything will be fine.
The only reward for following instructions during these drills is learning how to stay alive in a time of crisis.
Although the reward may not come for years or at all, just be glad that you have the skills to be called a survivor.
