The Martial arts are being practiced here at Cerritos College. Taekwondo is a discipline with origins in Korea and is tought by Vicmar Califores and students are to receive their higher-grade yellow belts this semester. Staff writer Juan Lopez Reporting.

With the challenge of the Spring semester, returning as well as new students are stepping outside the box with new innovative ways to study more effectively and improve their grade point average. Staff writer Israel Arzate asks several students for useful tips on their most effective way of studying.

Students along with the general public will have a chance to visit the Cerritos College art gallery and see local, national and international artwork created from an array of different mediums, including paint, ceramic and video performance art, which interpret the artist take on the relationship between facial expressions and emotions. Staff Writer Martin Calderon delves deep into the world of self expression.

The Dance Program here at Cerritos College offers aerobic exercise and disciplines that would rival any other campus athletic program. Staff Writer Alexa Bazua speaks with dedicated dance enthusiasts on how these vigorous courses are applied to other parts of their every day lives.

The Cerritos College men’s basketball team looks forward to forgetting the past 5 games and sustaining a winning streak beginning with the defeat of El Camino College Compton Center. Staff writer Luis Guzman goes full court and speaks one-on-one with this seasons basketball athletes.

Positions are still available for Falcons with a calling for student government. A new President and Vice president will be chosen this semester and anybody with such aspirations will have a chance to run, after meeting certain requirements. Juan Lopez speaks to the current administration and gets information for participating in student government.

A new trend is emerging involving a new way to study with electronic textbooks available for iPads, iPhone and other electronic smart devices. Staff writer German Lara speaks to Associate Professor Steven P. Clifford about the pro’s and con’s of relying on this unique study option.

This weeks ‘Free Speech Zone’ focuses on the upcoming ban on smoking at Cerritos College. With smokers and non smokers sharing the campus, this new law will test the resolve of both. Staff writer Alexandra Scovill takes it to various students on campus on how the smoking ban will affect them.

With no shortage of vampire and werewolf movies, ‘Underworld Awakenings’ is a new installment in the supernatural struggle of misfit monsters. Opinion Editor Miguel Hernandez braves the nether world and gives his view on this dark and bloody film.

With two power-house names gracing the motion picture ‘Extremely loud and Incredibly close’ promises to be an Oscar contender according to Online Editor Patrick Dolly. With the tragedy of 911 setting the stage for this feature, this film impacts the viewer in many ways.

Lines are being drawn and sides are being taken in the issue of online piracy coupled with personal, constitution protected rights we have as Americans. Proponents and Opponents of this law have legitimate arguments, but when one side wins, the other side will lose. Staff writer Wilmer Vargas speaks to impassioned staff and students about this blurry and controversial issue.

This weeks Talon Marks ‘Campus News Hour’ Editorial focuses on the overall cost effectiveness of iBooks as opposed to the standard paper text books. Staff writer Laura Trujillo gives the opinion of Talon Marks on this issue.
