A fumble recovery by sophomore free safety Chris Metcalf in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Southern California Bowl against Palomar College assisted in Cerritos College pulling out a 45-28 win.
Played at Escondido HS, the win avenged an earlier loss that the Falcons suffered at the hands of the Comets.
Falcons quarterback Brandon Denker had four touchdown passes on the day, good for 20-of-30 completions with 352 yards and player of the game honors.
The Falcons will go up against Mt. San Antonio College next Saturday at 1 p.m. Mt. SAC defeated El Camino College 34-7 to earn a spot in next week’s game.
The winner of next week’s match-up between the Falcons and the Mounties will move on to the state championship game on Dec. 10.
