Students and faculty hurried out of their buildings for the annual statewide earthquake drill in campus on Oct. 20 as part of ‘The Great California Shake-Out.’

Influenza can occur anytime, but most influenza occurs from October to May.
According to Cerritos College Student Health Services, a contagious respiratory illness is caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccination each year.

ASCC award applications are currently available at the Student Activities Office, and online at http://cms.cerritos.edu/activities/awards-program.htm, up until Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.
The awards that will be given out will vary depending on the criteria the applicants need to follow.

Cerritos College’s newest club, ‘The Transfer Club’ is open for all students to join, including those who are looking for help and information about college options after Cerritos College.

Cerritos College is adding a 12-week summer session which will be divided into two sets of six weeks each, effective as of the Summer 2012 semester.
During this summer session students, will have the opportunity to take 12 units rather than six.

A look at Latin American culture, the SUR: Biennial Exhibit opened on Thursday at the Cerritos College Art Gallery.
SUR: Biennial is a three-part exhibition being featured in the Cerritos College Art Gallery, Rio Hondo Art Gallery, and the Bluebird Art House in Uptown Whittier, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 18.

The construction and renovation of the gym has been in progress since Oct.2010. Renovations are said to take up to June 2012.
It has not just affected the Cerritos College wrestling, volleyball and basketball teams but also its students. The parking lot near the bookstore and the gym has been fenced off and has students having to go around the construction.

Cerritos College has received the 2011 Student Success Award by the California Community College Chancellor’s office for its iFalcon program.
The award will be given out in November at the Community College League of California convention’s luncheon at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel, according to the Cerritos College press release.

The Cerritos College Music Department and the Associated Students of Cerritos College presented “Do You Hear What I Hear?” on Friday.
The objective of the program is to present piano literature, as either solo or chamber music. The lecture consist of musical elements, history and performance.
