The Peace Service Association will be part of this year’s Halloween Festival, presented by the City of Norwalk.
Daniel Fragoso, business management major and co-president of PSA discussed his plans of volunteering on Halloween.
“On Halloween, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., [PSA will be] volunteering in the city of Norwalk. What they’re going to have there is a lot of game booths for children and anyone that wants to go and have fun,” Fragoso said.
“We’re doing this for our mission, which is to create peace within the community. This event is a family environment and it is for children to go have fun and enjoy their time instead of them being out on the streets where it can get crazy. Without volunteers, this event is not possible, so we’re there to make it possible for everyone to enjoy.
He also said, “I’m not just inviting the PSA club, which is maybe around 30 to 40 members, I’m also inviting the whole school, I invited cabinet members, and every club. I know EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) is volunteering, and I also invited iFalcon and ISA (International Students Association), I know other clubs will volunteer also.
“I just hope that everybody has a good time and a good experience,” Fragoso said.
The Festival will feature games for families to enjoy on Halloween evening. This year’s theme will be Frightful Frankenstein and is brought the Recreation and Park Services Department of Norwalk.
Samantha Luque, medical assisting major, is the co-vice president of PSA and will also be volunteering for the Halloween Festival.
“I’ll be volunteering at Norwalk City Hall by helping out to pass out candy to everybody and to have fun,” Luque explained.
“I’m going to stay there for the whole night and see who need help and to help anybody as much as I can. There’s nothing else I’d rather do on Halloween.”
“I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween, that no one gets hurt and that everyone dresses up and is having a blast.”
The Halloween festival will take place on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Civic Center Lawn, 12700 Norwalk Boulevard.
Although volunteering doesn’t pay, volunteers who complete a shift on the night of the Festival will receive a goody bag and will be entered in a raffle.
