Sophomore midfielder, Juan Ochoa led the Cerritos College soccer team to a 9-1 record overall. Cerritos played against El Camino College, winning with a score of 1-0.
Sophomore defender Jaime Cano felt the Falcons could have had more ball movement.
“We could of created more opportunities and switch the ball more. We didn’t use our style or play more on the ground. We could have gotten more scoring opportunities.”
In last weeks game, Ochoa scored the first goal against Los Angeles Harbor, he also scored a goal against Pasadena City College.
“I go in to the game and I’m focused. I know what I want to do and once I get on the field, I show it even though if I get a goal or not,” said Ochoa.
The Falcons failed to capitalize on opportunities to score during the first half.
“We missed a lot of chances, we had two opportunities and we missed them,” said freshman defender Giovanni Mayoral.
Cerritos College scored in the second half on a goal by which was made by Ochoa.
Cano commented on the missed opportunities in the in the first half of the game.
“It was more on us. We didn’t attack them the way we should have in the first half of the game. In the second half we created more opportunities and made the goal.
Juan didn’t start in the game but he substituted in the second half and held the midfield and when he saw the chance went for the goal,” said Cano.
Cerritos College will now travel to Long Beach City College on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. conference match.
