Both finishing in 13th place at The Commodore meet at Vanderbilt University, The Cerritos College men and women cross country team’s had 15 runners compete on Friday and Saturday. The event was held in Nashville, TN.
The men competed against 22 other schools with most of them being universities.
In addition to acquiring 317 team points, the Falcons’ had sophomore runner Daniel Herrera finish in sixth place in under 26 minutes for the 8k.
Because of his efforts so far this season, Herrera has been scheduled to visit an out of state university during this week.
In the women team’s first appearance in school history at The Commodore meet, the team finished with four runners in the top 100.
With freshman runner Natile Fyke finishing in 78th place and sophomore runner Adriana Raya finishing in 79th place, The Falcons felt they exceeded previous expectations.
Unlike the men, the women’s team was the only community college team competing out of the 23 schools at the meet.
Both teams will train for the Southern Calif. Preview Meet at Guasta Park in Ontario Sept. 30.
