With the age of technology at a peak, students are turning to cheaper E-books to replace traditional and more expensive text books but are finding themselves in a dilemma when their professor expects them to have the book in class.
The Wi-Fi phenomenon has been introduced to our library but that just isn’t enough.
Class rooms are in dire need of access to Wi-Fi so that students can access online books in class.
It is no secret that the average college student spends an arm, a leg, and the promise of their first born child on new textbooks each semester.
E-Books are proving to be cost-cutting strategies and are gaining popularity as they alleviate the heavy drag on a student’s budget.
Such expenses (and finding ways to cut them) coupled with new technologies, have opened the door to many publishers looking to cash in on the market in this depressed economy.
However, in order for E-books to save students money, they must be able to have access to the books in class, a problem easily solved by across campus Wi-Fi.
Not only would Wi-Fi be beneficial in the classroom but it would also reduce the number of students in the overly crowed-library, in turn providing more space for study groups and others in need of computers with internet.
In fact, universities are deploying campus-wide Wi-Fi networks as an efficient and effective ways to provide total broadband coverage for staff and students.
With the economy and students in mind, Cerritos College should recognize this step as a necessary part of its mission to “serve the community by building futures though learning” and should do its duty by providing the necessary.
