Josh Bentrem, history major, performed a first at Tuesday’s Karaoke Day in the Student Center singing Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like A Woman.”
As Bentrem was belting out the hit, women applauded his attempt to sing a woman’s song.
“It was awesome, and fun,” he said.
He added that he dedicated the song not only to the women in the crowd but also to his friend Stephanie.
Following Bentrem was Janet Olivia, psychology major, singing, a Selena song, “The Last Dance,” a medley of two songs.
She was said to be the next American Idol for her singing ability.
“She (Selena) has been an inspiration to me,” she said. “But not only that the reason is because I’m Hispanic and she was Hispanic.”
She added that she was nervous and hoped that she didn’t forget the lyrics to the song.
Aaron Romos, culinary arts major, had trouble singing the song “Radar Love” by Golden Earring.
First, Romos wasn’t sure where to start singing and the song restarted.
Next, the microphone Romos had was not on, so again the song was started from the beginning.
For the two times he had to restart Romos said, “I’m not a singer, but a cooker.”
Returning for a second time was Saul Romero, biochemistry major.
He sang “Blush” by the Stone Temple Pilots.
After his performance Romero said, “Singing was a bit better than the first time (since the Karaoke Day on Sept. 20).”
