ASCC Court Justice Joe Cobarrubio and ASCC Senate Liaison Alex Armendariz were elected ASCC President and ASCC Vice President during last Tuesday and Wednesday’s ASCC Presidential elections. The winning team was introduced at the Cabinet meeting on Monday.
In addition, volunteers are needed for this Friday’s Senior Preview Day according to Dean Ackland, coordinator of student activities.
Holly Bogdanovich, director of student activities, said that 529 students voted during the presidential elections and both Cobarrubio and Armendariz received 328 of the votes, “So basically (Cobarrubio and Armendariz) got 50 percent (of the votes).”
Both Cobarrubio and Armendariz will take office replacing current ASCC President Paulo Amaral and ASCC Vice President Charlene Angusco.
Amaral was unavailable for comment about ASCC President-elect Cobarrubio because he had not returned for the Model UN conference in San Francisco.
Afterward, Ackland explained that Senior Preview Day volunteers were needed because it was an opportunity for Cerritos College to showcase what it has to offer.
Commissier of Convocation and Fine Arts Christopher Olivaries, said that campus tour guides are needed “Because right now there are only 35 volunteers who signed up.”
Anyone who was interested in volunteering during Senior Preview Day is encouraged to do so, Olivaries added.
Volunteers can sign up in the Student Activities Center.
