For anyone who has had their heart broken because someone they loved wanted to put an end to the relationship, “Walk Away” from Scottish band Franz Ferdinand is a good song to listen to.
On the heels of the success of the first single, “Do You Want To,” from the band’s second album, “You Could Have It So Much Better” (Domino/Epic Records) Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Nicky McCarthy, and Paul Thomson have succeed in another song that touches the heart.
As I first heard this song I thought that this song would make a good soundtrack to any upcoming movie that will be released this holiday season.
Honestly, my first thought that lead singer Kapranos was leaving me instead.
That is the emotion of the song itself.
Then I realized that the song could connect to anyone who had someone walk out on him.
With lyrics such as, “Why don’t you you walk away?/No building will fall down/No quake will split the ground.”
I thought “Brilliant!”
Brilliant because with Kapranos voice it makes it easy to let go of the pain.
Brilliant because Kapranos’ band mate Thomson blends the drums well with each lyric sung by Kapranos.
Never mind that the song itself is only three and a half minutes, it gets the message across.
I love the fact that his voice doesn’t leave you thinking that he is a jerk for the pain a woman or man is going through.
The electric guitar theme doesn’t express regret for what a person goes through when dealing with a breakup.
So, for anyone who needs a song to put the pain of a breakup in words this song will accomplish the job.
