The 11th annual Mega Mixer attracted more than 1,000 students and faculty on Tuesday in the Student Center for those who were looking for job opportunities.
The mixer will feature an “It’s a Jungle Out There,” and participating chambers include Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Lakewood, La Mirada, Norwalk, Paramount and Santa Fe Springs.
Seventy businesses from in and around the cities participated and hoped to attract future employers.
Among those who were in attendance were:
? The Salvation Army ? The Presbysterian Health Physicians ? Gateaway Business Bank? StromForce Three.
Representatives Alisa Taggard, Shannon Feightner and Heather Bordner from the StromForce Three who were representing the Los Cerritos, Lakewood Center and Stonewood Center said that the response from students was great.
In addition, Feightner said that also that all three were three to inform about debt and mastercard information for those who wanted credit information.
Those from the Career Center also were in attendance like Christine The student place and career services specialist said the turnout for the event was great.
“This event attracts students,” she explained, “and the hope is that all of the companies represented would let students know that there are services for them.”
Furthermore, she said that the turnout for the event has been much more crowded than before and to have the event itself exciting because this means students are interested.
Cerritos students like Marcus Stripling, nursing major, said that he was there just to look at what the event had to offer.
There was no particular job that he was looking for but hoped to find a job that interested him.
Board member John Moore agreed that the Megamixer has always been a great.
