Both the men’s and women’s teams bounced back with fifth and fourth place respective finishes, at last Friday’s Santa Barbara City Invitational, from what coach John Goldman called a rough race at the SoCal Preview Meet on Oct. 9.
Goldman named freshman runners Brian Bayani and Lauren Thompson as the two most improved runners of the meet.
“We wanted athletes who have not been as consistent to improve; they surprised me,” Goldman said.
Both teams are now preparing to exploit gaps between opposing teams and deal with the hills at the Mt. San Antonio College course for the South Coast Championships next Friday.
