The American Association of University Women’s Scholarship Awards luncheon was held on Saturday.
The event was to recognized Cerritos outstanding women students.
Hee Y. Kim was the winner of the Stiethl Family scholarship.
She received a check for $500 to help her with her effort to moving on from junior college, and transferring to Cal State Fullerton in the fall.
There were other awards and scholarship falling within the $300-500 range.
Kimberly Reyes who won a $300 scholarship said “It will help pay for school books.”
She plans to apply to Cal States next semester.
Other recipients include; Andrea Akabike, Glady’s Gonzalves, Jenny Hernandez, Mariana Lara, Melissa Noble, Angelica Ornelas, Minerva Orozco, Racanne Ramos, Shauna Robertson, Kara Stockham, Erin Wright, and Dianna Yanez.
Patty Riedel associate professor from Health Occupations who assisted with the introduction called it “an intimate affair.”
Dr. Lacy gave a inspirational speech to all the women in addition to other present guest, on success and furthering their education.
