Craig Breit has been named chair of the presidential search committee that is currently looking for the next president of Cerritos College.
“The process is going along as planned,” he said.
The committee has representatives from all around campus including a student, multiple faculty representatives and staff representatives.
The members are:
- Bob Arthur, Board Representative,
- Craig Breit, Faculty Representative,
- Tom Chavez, Student Representative,
- Francine DeFrance, Management Representative,
- Dr. Bob Hughlett, Board Representative,
- Tom Jackson, Board Representative,
- Dr. Stephen Johnson, Administration Representative,
- Lynn Laughon, Classified Representative,

- Jeanie McHatton, Community Representative,
- Julie Mun, Confidential Representative,
- Jenine Nolan, Management Representative,
- Traci Ukita, Faculty Representative,
- Maria Vega, Faculty Representative, and
- David Ward, Classified Representative.
The committee has stared accepting application and the deadline is March 31.
It also has created a broacher listing the qualifications needed for the position.
“The first level interviews will start in April,” public relations director Mark Wallace said.
Those interviews will be held in private and the names will not be released.
“The reason for that is some of the applicants might have other jobs and they don’t might not want to be identified,” Wallace said.
After the first level interviews the committee will make its recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees will then decided who the next president of Cerritos College is.
The board will hear from all the contingencies on campus before it will make its decision.
Acting President Bill Farmer can serve until July because he can only serve one year as action president.
“If nothing is in place before then everyone will stay where they are at,” explained Wallace. “The Board of Trustees can ask the state chancellors of for and extension if it is needed and it has been granting those extensions.”
