Betty Walczak, an election clerk, has been doing the Homecoming elections voting booth for several years now. She says she looks forward to this event. “It’s so much fun.” Joan Thiel, also an election clerk working the booth side by side with Walczak says, “It gets really busy here at the booths when the girls are out campaigning and talking to people. That’s when we get the most people voting.”
The busyness at the voting booth kept up its fair share. With candidate number two, Monica Reyes of the Court Reporting club and candidate number six, Evie Mendoza of the Student Veterans club campaigned until the absolute very end, Thursday 8:00 p.m. Both women are making Cerritos College history if they win. The last three years has been dominated by the Court Reporting club. This will be their fourth victory if won. The Student Veterans club has never had a queen crowned for Homecoming. This will be the very first if won.
