For the third time this season, the Cerritos College wrestling team lost to Santa Ana College.
Last Wednesday night was that third time, and it happened to be the first conference loss of the season.
The team went 33-6 against the Santa Ana Dons. Many Falcons could not overcome the Dons, specifically their leg rides among other things.
Cerritos wrestling coach Don Garriott said that the technical aspects of the dual meet wouldn’t have been a problem if the right guys were out there wrestling.
He added that those who did wrestle tried hard and performed to their ability. It just wasn’t enough to beat a healthy Santa Ana team.
There were many starting wrestlers that were unable to wrestle because their health didn’t allow them. “We got four or five guys back that we needed,” Garriott said.
Even though this was the first match of the conference, coach Garriott still has high hopes for the remainder of his team’s matches.
“I’m looking forward to the remainder of the season,” he said.
