With recent construction on the Cerritos College campus, new benefits are coming the students’ way.
One of these benefits being the new parking structure around C-10 and the new buildings being made by the Science Building.
Many people are wondering if this is a good or bad thing for the school, specifically with the new parking structure. Some, however, are looking at this as a positive addition to the school.
There are few concerns with the new parking lot: Is it enough? Will the construction and workers cause even more of a hassle for late students?
With enrollment at an all-time high and budget cuts cutting classes, there is no doubt that parking at Cerritos will be even more of a problem this fall semester.
In the past—and even now—parking on the street has been a remedy for the congestion, but even that can go so far.
One student at Cerritos, Eddie Garcia, said, “Even if there’s another parking structure put in, it wouldn’t make a difference. There’s just too many kids coming in.”
The construction workers declined to comment on when the construction would be over officially, but some kids on campus are speculating July 2010.
One student, Favian Briceno, said “I think the parking will help, eventually.” Only time will tell if this all will end up helping or hurting Cerritos student’s already complicated lifestyle.
