In this tumultuous economy affecting the country, many people are looking for ways to save money to maintain them afloat.
There are many simple things that can be done to more frugal in everyday life.
Some students are just saving money the old-fashioned way, while others are looking to invest it and hope for profits.
Loai Hussein, undeclared major, is doing both. “I’m working and saving money. I’m looking to invest in stocks also.”
Other students are actively bargain hunting for the best deals.
Kyle Edquist, business major, says, “I just find sales. I’ve been shopping at Wal-Mart. It has eight sodas for $2.”
Paralegal major Sandra Mayoral finds the food at the food court to be expensive because she watches her money carefully.
Many students are finding different alternatives such as bringing their own lunch to school.
“I think the food is expensive,” Mayoral said. “I spend about $20 on food each week.”
Mayoral decided to bring her own food to school to cut back on her food expenses and save money.
Eunice Park, cashier at Chicago Harv’s, said, “I think the food is kind of expensive but that’s my boss’s orders.”
