The Cerritos swim team hosted the Chaffey Invitational, a two day meet, which Riverside College won, in both the mens’ and womens’ competiton.
“I need to work on my endurance and cardio more,” swimmer Louie Espinoza said. “I’m not happy with my performance, I think I can still shed a couple of seconds off of my times.”
Though he was not pleased with his times, Espinoza managed to help the team place third in the men’s 200 yard medely relay, place, himself, third in the 10 yard butterfly, second in the 200 yard breaststroke, and first in the 100 yard breaststroke.
And for the women i was Sofia Patronas who showed up as she got fourth place in the womens’ 50 yard butterfly, and helped capture third in the 400 yard freestyle relay, and second the 400 yard medely relay.
The Cerritos mens’ swim team, who earned 616 team points, came in third place overall, behind Riverside college, who earned 942 points, and Mt. SAC, who earned 679 points.
The Cerritos womens’ swim team fell short of first as well after earning 558 team points. They trailed Riverside College, 639.5 points, Mt. SAC, 583 points, and Chaffey College, 568 points.
The Cerritos swim team will face and Chaffey College and Rio Hondo College on Friday in Cerritos’ new Aquatic Center.
