Nicholas Sparks is by far the only man alive to make readers weep while reading his novels.
He is the definition of the word, “romance.” He is the author of “The Notebook,” that made millions in the box office and had women (including myself) crying after the twentyth time seeing it.
This time he came back with another, tear jerker and heart stopping novel: “The Choice.”
The storyline begins with Travis Parker, a 30 year-old, simple, outdoor fanatic, piece of hunk (or so it says in the book).
He has everything in life: a job he adores, a pack of good friends, and his loyal companion, Luke the dog.
His life completely turns upside down when he meets his new neighbor, Gabby Holland, the attractive red-head with the body and the heart stopping green eyes that mesmerize Travis.
After reading the beginning paragraphs I thought it was a bit like the “Notebook,” but I didn’t care because I know that Sparks would somehow in the end make me re-read this book, because I wouldn’t get enough of it.
Let it be said: I have read it like three times already. Victory for Mr. Sparks.
The problems begin then when Gabby thinks that Luke.
Travis’s dog is the reason why her own dog, Molly, is pregnant. She blames him and tells him that he is going to have to be responsible and help her.
Well it turns out that Molly is pregnant, but Luke isn’t the daddy.
Travis, being a veterinarian helps Molly when she is close to dying after giving birth. Needless to say, romance blossoms from there and on.
Romantic evenings spent together, outdoor excursions, and a late breakfast ion bed all in three days make Travis fall head over heels for Gabby.
A bit cheesy, in my opinion but it worked out perfectly in the end.
There was a bit of a problem in the wonderful relationship, Gabby had a boyfriend. Go figures.
There always seems to be a person that ends up getting hurt in the Sparks novels, but it’s what makes them so damn good. Betrayals are so romantic in Sparks’ novels.
To wrap it Gabby dumps her boyfriend, and marries Travis and together have two daughters.
Now at this point of the novel I was bit disappointed that it wasn’t going the way I wanted it. No real drama coming in. I suddenly realized there was a part two to the novel and I lost it.
The event that occurs is horrible. I cried,(call me weird if you want) and stopped reading the book for a while because it was so sad. I am not going to say what happens in the end because I’ll kill it.
“The Choice” is simply heartwarming and touching. His use of words are of great detail and magically create the images in your mind.
I would be devastated if they don’t make this into a movie, because it’s just as good as “The Notebook.”
I highly recommend this book for all hopeless romantics out there. Man or woman, you have to heart of stone if you don’t cry at the end of this novel.
