Avalon at Cerritos has been awarded the 2002 SAGE (Senior Achievement and General Excellence) Award for Project of the Year.
The award was presented by the Seniors Housing Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California on Nov. 13 at the SAGE Awards dinner in Costa Mesa.
The SAGE Project of the Year award recognizes a completed senior project in Southern California that has been designed innovatively, has created or contributed to affordable, attractive senior housing, and serves as a model for other senior housing developments.
Avalon at Cerritos was one of the two recipients of the award. Avalon at Cerritos was given the award based on its design and contributions to affordable housing.
“We are extremely proud to receive this award in recognition of our efforts over the past two years to create a high-quality assisted living facility for seniors,” said Mayor Bruce W. Barrows, City of Cerritos.
Avalon at Cerritos are assisted living apartments for senior’s age 62 and older.
Services provided at Avalon at Cerritos include three daily meals and snacks, weekly housekeeping, an extensive activities program, 24-hour responsive staff and an in-room emergency response system.
There are currently 33 residents residing at Avalon at Cerritos.
“We expect to move in 10 residents by the end of the year,” said Michele Razo, Executive Director for Avalon at Cerritos.
