California Governor Jerry Brown, along with lawmakers, are asking community college students to help the state out of its budget woes by raising tuition by $10 a unit starting July 2011.
The increase, according to the state Legislative Analyst Office, will aid California community colleges by providing another $110 million in total resources.
The increase will lower the amount of imposed reductions from $400 million to $290 million to the community college system.
Some classes and student services are still expected to see cuts.
