For the second time in four years, Benny Artiaga was named Far West Region Coach of the Year after leading the Cerritos College men’s soccer team to its second state championship in three years.
The Falcons defeated rival Mt. San Antonio College in the state championship final 1-0 and finished the season ranked No. 2 in the country.
Artiaga received the same award two years ago as well as the National Coach of the Year award when the team won its first state title in school history.
Artiaga also led the Falcons to a South Coast Conference championship for the first time since 2004 when they were co-champions with Pasadena City College.
