The Cerritos College softball team won its fourth conference game at home on Tuesday with the score of 11-2 against East Los Angeles College.
The game which ended after only five innings will raise the falcons record to 8-4.
“The game went really well, the first couple of innings we were down, and we weren’t as loud as in the middle of the game, but about in the fourth inning we started talking more and got more runs.” said sophomore center fielder Natalie Garcia.
Sophomore pitcher Jessica Lozano struck out six players and only allowed two hits off of her.
The huskies first got the lead in the top of the second inning as their first baseman hit a home run against Lozano.
An unearned run by the falcons designated hitter Sophomore Gabriela Villarreal in the bottom of the second inning tied up the score.
A second home run by the huskies first baseman’s in the top of the fourth inning took the lead once again.
Freshman outfielder Courtney Priddle homered to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning bringing the game up to a tie once again.
“When I hit the home run I was excited because I knew that the game was closer now, and that we had a chance to win.” said Priddle
A double by Freshman pinch hitter Jaqueline Flores brought in designated hitter Gabriela Villarreal allowing the falcons to take the lead for the first time in the game.
Freshman second baseman Stephanie Aguirre hit her first double of the game and brought in two more runs.
A triple by Freshman shortstop Briana Quintana and a single by freshman catcher Jessica Roper ended the inning leaving the falcons with the lead of 7-2.
With bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning second baseman Stephanie Aguirre homered to left center ending the game with a score of 11-4.
“They [East Los Angeles College] never backed down, but neither did we, so when they fought, we fought back.” said freshman first baseman Alexxa Sanabria.
