The Cerritos baseball team managed to keep its head up and look past the 5-2 loss to Santa Ana College on Saturday in Kincaid Field.

“I think we played good, we just didn’t get any big hits,” said head coach Jack Brooks after the game. “I wish we could’ve come up with a couple of big hits,” he added.

Santa Ana got the game stated in the first inning with an RBI by David Peterson, which scored Brett Tanos. In the second inning Santa Ana increased its lead with a home run by Taylor Richardson over the right field wall.

In the fourth inning the Falcons began a rally with an RBI from Max McEleney, which scored first basemen Tim Soonthorngarun and got Cerritos on the board. The next inning, Adam Peacock scored off an error tying it all up at two all with four innings to go.

The score remained tied until the eighth inning when Santa Ana pulled ahead of Cerritos with a series of RBIs by Brett Tanos, Chris Miller, and Jordan Byrd making it a 5-2 game at which it would remain at, giving Santa Ana the victory.

“We’ve been having the same problem [every game].” Said a frustrated Soonthorngarun after the game. “We play down to them instead of playing our game.”

The Falcons will try to play “their game” as they meet Golden West College on Sunday, Fullerton on Thursday, and L.A Valley College on Friday.
