First impressions are very important and that is what one band has done since fans took notice of them in 2001.
Having come off a duet performance with singer Madonna at the Grammys last week, it is easy to see why the virtual group, Gorillaz is one of the most easy listening band today.
It is most evident in the group’s current single, “Feel Good Inc.” from the album Demon Days (Virgin Records).
Why, you ask?
Leave it to the quartet: 2-D (vocal, keyboardist), Russel (drums), Murdoc (satanic bass), and Noodle (10-year old guitar virtuosa) to come up with the concept of great dance along, if not sing along song.
The soundtrack of the band is similar to that of Coldplay but in a way that will have audience dancing.
“City breaking down on a camel’s back/They just have to go ‘cos they don’t hold back/So all of you fill the streets it’s appealing to see/You won’t get out of the country, ‘cos you’re bad and free,” sings lead singer 2-D.
Despite having censored language in between the verses want to know what the thing is that makes the song appealing to its audience: the synthesizers emphasis.
This is especially true with the chorus: “Windmill, Windmill for the land/Learn forever hand in hand/Take it all in on you stride/It is sticking, falling down/Love forever love is free/Let’s turn forever you and me,” demands 2-D.
However, there is credit to be given to Noodle the guitarist for setting the mood throughout the song in addition to the other two.
Now if you thought that the smash hit “Dare” from Demon Days was just ask good, once you where and (perhaps see the video) you will just as pleased as any fan of Gorillaz.
You will “Free Good” too.
