Rob Torrez, senior field manager for the American Red Cross, spoke to club representatives about the importance of signing up for the Fall blood drive during the ICC meeting last Thursday morning.
The blood drive will be held Nov.18 through Nov. 20.
Torrez announced to students that Cerritos College is the top community college in blood raising in of Southern California, ranging from Ventura County to San Diego County.
“The blood shortage right now is bad and it is extremely important to hold the blood drive during the holidays when it is at it’s lowest,” Torrez said.
Torrez announced there will be a contest between the Cerritos clubs on who can get the most students to sign up and actually give blood.
Myisha Cayro, vice president of the Campus Crusade for Christ was present at the ICC meeting to listen to Torrez speak.
“It’s amazing. I’m very excited. We’re super involved and I like that aspect of our school. Students really care,” Cayro said.
The blood drive will be held on Nov. 18 through Nov. 20 in the student center and/or the Red Cross bloodmobile. The drive will be available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Students can sign up at the Student Health Services office and in front of the library.
The new iFALCON campaign was also introduced to club representatives by ASCC President Michael Barrita.
The kickoff for iFALCON will be held on Thursday in the Teleconference Center at 11 a.m.
