The Cerritos College women’s basketball team had on its eighth straight victory as they defeated Los Angeles Trade Tech College 63-51 last Friday, improving its record to 19-5.
Despite both teams going scoreless for the first two minutes of action, Cerritos scored the first points of the game and never looked back as it kept the lead for the duration of the game.
Within 7:38 of the first half, the Falcons were up 27-3.
Cerritos did not let up, and by the end of the half, it was up 38-15.
In the second half, L.A . was determined to turn things around.
The Beavers took advantage of Cerritos mistakes and started making their shots.
However, the Falcons stood their ground and did not allow L.A. to come back.
Cerritos rebounded and defeated the Beavers in their home 63-51.
Head coach Karen Welliver said that she thought the LA played hard in the second half, but “thought [Cerritos] rebounded very well.”
“We just needed to play hard and come out with a W,” Montanique Washington, sophomore guard, said.
The Falcons are looking ahead to their next game to go for their ninth straight victory.
“We’re prepared to go on to Pasadena and get another win,” Magali Garcia, freshman guard, said.
The Falcons will take on Pasadena City on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Gahr High School.
